To remove the windows.old folder, use the Disk Cleanup utility. Click Start, click Computer, and then right-click the drive that contains windows.old and click Properties. On the General tab click Disk Cleanup. After the scan is done, check the box for Previous Windows Installation, and then click OK.If a file has an unexpected owner, and you are denied permissions, you can take ownership of the file and grant yourself permissions again. Right-click the file and then click Properties. On the Security tab, click Advanced. On the Owner tab, click Edit. Under Change owner to, select your user account, or the Administrators account. You can also select other users or groups by clicking the Other users or groups button. Click OK, and you should now be able to edit the permissions of the file and grant yourself whatever permissions you need.Dave Bishop Senior Technical Writer Windows Server Networking User Assistance
